Some Assembly Required: Mixed Technique Quilts

Traditional quilt making meets contemporary trends, and they dance together beautifully. Quilts in this trunk show represent the mixed technique, mixed media, and innovative categories used in today’s quilt shows. Sprinkled into the quilt display are hints on various techniques, design elements, and color usage. Featured quilts are those included in Some Assembly Required. The quilt after which the book is named received a Judge’s Recognition award from Libby Lehman  in Paducah.

Bodacious Applique by Hand or Machine

Bodacious Appliqueis bold, stunning, and surprisingly easy. From simple to sublime, these quilts will inspire every quilter whether she works by hand or machine. The primary technique involves creating appliques with one or two fabric pieces and adding texture and dimension with colored pencils, markers, and inks. A wide variety of applique quilts are featured along with those from the book Bodacious Applique a la Carte. The cover quilt, Beauregard the Parrot received two first place ribbons in applique and was juried into Paducah’s show.
