While playing with half-square triangles and their many
possibilities, I found the book Magic Squares by Patty Barney and Cookie
Shock. This star block had always been a favorite. Magic square's
simple method of producing this quilt provided a springboard for many other
designs which were produced by a small group of ladies produced
as charitable contributions. Rarely have I been able to follow anyone's
designs accurately because I go off on my own tangents, but this block
kept me on track. It actually is their pattern! Additional fun came about
when I decided I wanted to quilt this as Libby Lehmann would! Out came
her book for study, and up came the decision that I must learn to machine
quilt and learn to do it well! It was a good decision because machine quilting
is one of those things I relish. The array of metallic threads certainly
adds to the fun! |
